Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are all of your watches completely restored?

A. No. Many of the watches in this collection have been restored to their original
condition. Some watches, however, are in excellent shape when they are found.
When that happens, the watch is cleaned, oiled and adjusted. This way you can be
sure that your watch is in fine running condition when you receive it.  I try to include
the amount of restoration, i.e. dial condition, in each description.

Q. Why don't you list freight charges?

A. Because there are none. All watches purchased on this site are shipped to the
customer, insured, at no additional cost.

Q. What determines the price of a vintage watch? I see a lot of different prices on the
web.

A. A lot of things are taken into consideration when determining the value of a
vintage watch. The maker of the watch, the material that the case was made from,
the condition of the watch, its age, and the quality of its movement...to name a few.
Some watches are more collectible than others.  I should add that the rarity of a
watch is also important.  I try to avoid using the word "rare", because I often see a
watch labeled rare, and see the same one ten more times in the same week.  Just as
beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a fine vintage watch has a different appeal to
different people.
